For this project, I was inspired to redesign the menu for Maui Maui, a local restaurant in Lenoir City known for its delicious sub sandwiches and popular Taco Tuesdays. While the restaurant already had a sleek, modern menu, I saw an opportunity to bring a unique twist to the design by infusing it with more personality and creativity.I opted to incorporate fun, illustrative elements that would reflect the vibrant and welcoming atmosphere of the restaurant. By blending modern design with playful illustrations, I created a menu that was not only visually appealing but also conveyed the lively spirit of Maui Maui. The end result was a fresh, engaging menu that stood out.
I used both Illustrator and InDesign to create the menu design. I began by designing playful, cartoon-style illustrations of a taco, sub sandwich, and drink. To bring these characters to life, I researched references and gathered inspiration before sketching out simple shapes using the pencil and pen tools in Illustrator.
Once the illustrations were complete, I brought everything into InDesign to work on the layout and composition. I experimented with different arrangements to ensure the design was visually appealing and easy to navigate. To maintain consistency with the restaurant's original brand identity, I carefully selected fonts that closely matched those used in the existing menu, ensuring the new design complemented the established style without overshadowing it.The result was a fun, visually engaging menu that still felt true to Maui Maui's modern yet approachable brand.
